The Future
Land based kiting sports in New Zealand have come a long way in the past year with many more people becoming aware of the sport and more and more people showing up on the beach or at the local field to fly. Landboarding NZ Ltd is committed to continuing our support of the various kite sports and also providing new items, ranges, and events to encourage the growth in this area. During the next few months we will be rationalising the range of items that we sell in an effort to keep our prices low, but keep an eye out for new stuff too.

Over the coming months we will be arranging a regular club day out for those of you in and around the Christchurch area, (see Sunday Session below), plus running another couple of Waikuku kite camps too. There are a number of national events which we may attend this year, so if you are interested in meeting other kiters from around the country, then keep any eye on our website.
Kiting Africa
Steve from Landboarding NZ Ltd was lucky enough to spend some time in North Africa during the winter break where he tried his hand at kiting the desert winds.

Steve says “I took my small 3.0m kite with me on my trip to Africa and Europe with the idea of doing a little kiting whilst I was away. My favourite place for a session was on the beach in Tunisia with the sweet breezes off the Med. Everything started sweetly but when the sun started to go down the wind turned 180 degrees to blow off-shore and I could see that there was a typical late afternoon thunderstorm brewing...!! Normally I would pack up in these conditions but it had bee a while since I last flew I just wanted to squeeze out every minute I could. I continued having a good laugh until a particularly freaky gust caught me and took me 10 feet in the air and almost into the water. Not bad for a 100kg guy on a 3.0m kite.”
The 'LBNZ Sunday Session'
For those of you lucky enough to live in or around Christchurch, Landboarding NZ ltd invites you along to the Spring/Summer Sunday Sessions. The plan is that every fortnight, (or when the tides and conditions are right), we look to get together as many land based kiters together for a kiting freeride up and down our awesome beach. This will be a great chance to meet other kiters, swap tips and tricks and just hang out with the Landboarding NZ Ltd Crew and maybe even the A.E.O.B.B, (Angry Eyed Octopus Buggy Boys). The venue will either be the South Brighton Surf Club or the North Brighton Surf Club depending on the conditions. To get all the details, check out the LBNZ Sunday Session thread at the KGB Forums, where each fortnight time, location, weather forecast and tide information will posted. Hope to see you there…
